Elton John has openly expressed his opposition to the legalization of cannabis in the United States and Canada. In an interview with Time magazine, as part of their "Icon of the Year" coverage, the singer shared his thoughts on this issue, writes A2 CNN.
"I still maintain that it is an addictive substance," John said. "It leads to other drugs. And when you're on drugs—and I was—you don't think normally. The legalization of cannabis in America and Canada is one of the biggest mistakes of all time."
Years clean from substances, John has helped artists such as Eminem and Robbie Williams deal with their addictions. However, he regretted not being able to help George Michael, who struggled with drug addiction and passed away in 2016. (A2 Televizion)
