It's only been a few days since Sam Altman was fired as CEO of OpenAI, and the company has replaced him twice so far.
After the dismissal, Altman was initially replaced by the Albanian Mira Murati, who is the head of technology in the company. However, Murat was appointed as interim leader and now Emmett Shear has been appointed in her place.
The latter will also temporarily lead the company that created Chat Gpt.
Emmett Shear, co-founder and former CEO of Twitch, confirmed that he had accepted the proposed position at one of the highest-profile companies in the world of Artificial Intelligence.
In a post made on the "X" platform on Monday, Shear said that he had received a call from the company during which he was asked to become the interim CEO of the company and that he had accepted the offer after consulting with the family.
Who is Emmett Shear?
Shear is a household name in Silicon Valley, and yet, to most people, he is unknown. He turned Twitch, the live streaming website he co-founded with Justin Kan, Michael Seibel and Kyle Vogt in 2007, from a place where Kan's life was first broadcast 24/7, into a worldwide phenomenon.
Twtch was acquired by Amazon for $1 billion in 2014, and Shear stepped down as the company's CEO last year.
During his time at the company, he faced backlash from broadcasters who believed the platform was not protecting their interests. It also found itself in a tense battle with rival YouTube. After leaving Twitch, Shear became a partner at Y Combinator, the startup accelerator formerly run by Altman.
Meanwhile, Sam Altman has joined Microsoft, ending speculation that he might return to Open AI just 48 hours after his tumultuous firing. At the tech giant, Altman will lead a "new Artificial Intelligence research team."
The 38-year-old was dismissed from the board on Friday on the grounds that confidence in him had already been lost. Altman's place was taken by Mira Murati, and the news made a stir even in Albania due to the fact that an Albanian was appointed temporary chief executive in a company like Open AI. (A2 Televizion)
