Two people died and 31 others were injured on Sunday morning in a traffic accident on the Zagreb-Belgrade highway, between Popovača and Križ, where a car and a bus, both with Bosnia and Herzegovina license plates, collided.
According to the Croatian Ministry of Health, 29 of the injured have been transported for medical treatment to hospitals in Zagreb, Sisak and Pakrac.
According to Croatian Radio Television (HRT), the vehicle initially collided with a deer, causing the car to stop on the road. The driver got out of the vehicle and tried to signal other vehicles to slow down, but the bus coming from behind failed to see him in time and collided with the car. As a result, the car broke through the guardrail and went into the opposite lane, while the bus overturned.
The Croatian Ministry of Health announced that all emergency services, including nine ambulance teams, immediately arrived at the scene.
"We express our condolences to the families of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to all those injured," the Croatian Ministry of Health said in a statement.
After the completion of the investigation at the scene, the A3 Bregana-Lipovac highway has been reopened in both directions, the Croatian Automobile Club (HAK) announced. Meanwhile, it has been reported that after the accident, a long convoy of vehicles headed towards Bregana was created, and the convoy reached about 22 kilometers. /REL (A2 Televizion)
