The European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, has criticized the participation of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić in the military parade in Moscow, saying that member states have many questions about Vučić, about who is truly a friend of Serbia.
Kosovo's Acting Foreign Minister Donika Gërvalla also reacted to the same topic, saying that the Serbian president's visit to Russia is a message for the Western world to stop its appeasement policy towards Serbia.
"Vučić has also given destructive messages in the past. You remember that only in September 2023 we faced an attack that came directly from Serbia with paramilitaries who attacked us and who had large weapons, anti-tank and anti-aircraft. You know that Kosovo does not have tanks. These weapons are designed to threaten your soldiers who are in KFOR and who protect peace and protect the citizens of Kosovo. For me, it is a very normal step for Vučić to visit Russia, the next step that Vučić shows everyone where he believes Serbia belongs and I really hope that this will make partners, allies get a clear message and stop the appeasement policy that has failed in Russia with Putin and will fail with Serbia as well. But the question is what will be the price that the region will pay if Europe, the EU and our Western partners continue the appeasement policy for a very hegemonic Serbia that is a threat to everyone our neighbors in the region."
"The Serbian army is not participating in the parade and that is a positive side. That would have been really another level. But of course it remains on the conscience of these people who go hand in hand with Putin, who is waging a war now – the biggest war in Europe since World War II. Of course, the member states are not chewing this over lightly. When we discuss the next steps, then the member states have a lot of questions. Who is your friend that you are really dealing with?"
