It was a tense night last night in Exarchia, Greece. Local media reported that unknown individuals attacked police forces shortly before midnight.
According to the Greek Police, groups of unknown persons attacked police forces at the Kallidromiou and E. Benaki intersection with Molotov cocktails and stones, while the police responded by using chemical weapons.
Unknown assailants set fire to trash cans, using them as barricades, while clashes with the police continued for about an hour.
15 firefighters and 7 vehicles have been deployed to extinguish the flames in the garbage cans and cars.
Greek police say one police officer was injured and 72 people were arrested.
During the incidents, 21 cars were engulfed in flames, 5 of which were completely burned, while damage was caused to a house and a shop. (A2 Televizion)
