The government of North Macedonia decided to ease the sanctions against the Russian Federation, removing the restrictive measure for the flight of Russian aircraft in its space, in order to enable Foreign Minister Sergej to participate in the annual OSCE conference in Skopje. Lavrov.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a communique through which it informs that it is a "completion" of the previous decision that followed the decision of the European Union on sanctions against Russia, after the military aggression against Ukraine.
"The Macedonian government, through this 'supplement - decision', authorizes the relevant ministries to decide on their own whether to grant permission for the flight and landing of the Russian plane due to the OSCE ministerial meeting in Skopje, from November 29 to December 1 2023", the announcement states.
According to the Voice of America, the authorities of North Macedonia emphasize that the completion of the decision is in accordance with the EU regulation and the provisions in the restrictive measures themselves, with which they provide for exceptions to the restrictions in question for international conferences, such as the OSCE.
The Foreign Minister of North Macedonia, Bujar Osmani, who is the next chairman of the OSCE, said a few days ago that he is in contact with Lavrov's cabinet and that he has expressed interest in participating in this important conference. (A2 Televizion)
