Eight people were killed and 13 wounded in an attack this morning on the Palace of Justice in Zahedan, in Iran's southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan. The Sunni-Baloch separatist group Jaish al-Adl (Army of Justice) claimed responsibility for the attack, IRNA reported.
"Terrorists affiliated with the Zionist regime threw a grenade into the building, which exploded, killing five people, including a mother and her one-year-old child ," said Alireza Daliri, deputy commander of the provincial police, according to A2 CNN.
The dead include five civilians and three attackers, while one of the injured is in critical condition.
Emergency services and security forces quickly surrounded the building and secured the area. Iranian authorities have launched a full investigation into the attack.
Zahedan, the capital of Sistan and Baluchestan province, has previously witnessed sporadic unrest and violence attributed to armed groups operating near the borders with Pakistan and Afghanistan. (A2 Televizion)
