The US House of Representatives has given final approval to Donald Trump's massive tax bill and sent it to the US President for signature.
According to foreign media, House Republicans brought President Donald Trump's $4.5 trillion tax relief and spending cuts bill to final approval in Congress on Thursday.
This bill had overcome several obstacles to be approved before July 4, which is also the anniversary of US Independence.
The close vote, 218-214, came at a potentially high political cost, with two Republicans joining all Democrats in opposing it. GOP leaders worked through the night, and the president himself coaxed a handful of skeptics to drop their opposition and send the bill to Trump for his signature.
Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries of New York delayed the vote by speaking for more than eight hours with a record-breaking speech against the bill, writes A2 CNN.
"We have a big job to do," said House Speaker Mike Johnson. "With a big, beautiful bill, we will make this country stronger, safer, and more prosperous than ever before," he added, according to A2 CNN. (A2 Televizion)
