Biden "moves" 12 prisoners from Guantanamo, among them Bin

The Biden administration is reported to have quietly shipped 11 prisoners linked to Al Qaeda and Osama Bin Laden to Oman from Guantanamo Bay.

The Yemeni men had been held at the notorious facility on the southeastern tip of Cuba for more than two decades without charge.

Two of the prisoners were once Osama Bin Laden's bodyguards and all were captured after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

"The United States appreciates the willingness of the government of Oman and other partners to support ongoing U.S. efforts focused on responsibly reducing the detainee population and ultimately closing the Guantanamo Bay facility," the Department of Defense said. in a statement.

The transfer took place on Monday as part of a covert operation to take the convicts to Oman, where they will be settled, safe and sound.

It is unclear what the United States has agreed to or offered to Oman in exchange for accepting the prisoners.
