After announcing that the Gates Foundation will close in 2045 and donate 99% of its assets, Microsoft founder Bill Gates has said he intends to invest almost all of it in improving health and education services in Africa over the next 20 years.
A day ago, the 69-year-old billionaire declared that "by unleashing human potential through health and education, every African country should be on the path to prosperity," writes A2 CNN.
Gates announced last month that he would donate 99% of his vast fortune, estimated to exceed $200 billion, to his foundation. If confirmed, it would be one of the largest philanthropic donations ever, surpassing the historic contributions of industrialists such as John D. Rockefeller and Andrew Carnegie after adjusting for inflation.
Only Berkshire Hathaway investor Warren Buffett's pledge to give away his fortune - currently estimated by Forbes at $160 billion - could be greater depending on stock market fluctuations. (A2 Televizion)
