A reservist in Russia has been sentenced to five years in prison for "war desertion."
Media reports that a military court in the republic of Buryatia sentenced the young man on charges that he had bought a fake death certificate to avoid going to war.
The young man was expected to be drafted into the ranks of the Russian army in November 2022, following partial mobilization ordered by the Kremlin last year.
The soldier had received a temporary leave of absence in April but never returned to his unit. The son then presented himself to the police with a fake death certificate. (A2 Televizion)
