French senator Joël Guerriau was arrested in Paris after allegedly drugging a lawmaker with the intention of sexually assaulting her. Foreign media announce that the event took place on Tuesday and Wednesday evening.
The MP, whose identity remains confidential, lodged a complaint after she felt down after a drink she had with Guerriau. The senator, known to be an acquaintance of the victim, is now under surveillance. A later analysis revealed the presence of ecstasy in her body, strengthening the charges against Guerriau.
The prosecutor's office confirmed that the senator was arrested on suspicion of having unknowingly given a woman a substance capable of "making her lose control of her actions, with the intention of committing a sexual assault". (A2 Televizion)
