Israel won't obey Trump? Plans attacks on Iran's nuclear

Israel has not ruled out a possible attack on Iran's nuclear infrastructure in the coming months, despite Trump's message to Netanyahu that he would not support such a move for now, an Israeli official and two other sources close to the matter told Reuters. Israel is committed to preventing Tehran from building nuclear weapons, and Netanyahu insists that any negotiations with Iran must lead to a complete cessation of its nuclear program.

Over the past few months, Israel has proposed to the Trump administration a series of options for attacking Iranian infrastructure, including some in the spring and summer, according to the sources. The plans include a combination of airstrikes and commando operations that they say could reduce Iran’s nuclear capability. The New York Times reported on Wednesday that Trump told Netanyahu earlier this month that he wants to prioritize diplomatic talks with Tehran and that he would not support an attack on nuclear infrastructure on short notice.

But officials in Tel Aviv reportedly now believe their military could launch a limited attack on Iran that would require less American support. Such an attack would be smaller than what Israel had originally proposed.

It is unclear whether Netanyahu will implement the goals, especially as the US is engaged in talks with Iran. Such a move would anger Trump and could jeopardize support for Israel.
