Israeli forces have intensified their attacks on Gaza, killing at least 65 Palestinians since midnight, medics say. The attacks, which continued this morning, killed 45 people before dawn in the northern Strip, particularly in the town and refugee camp of Jabalia.
The others are in the southern Strip, particularly in Khan Yunis. Last night, the IDF ordered the immediate evacuation of civilians from the northern Gaza Strip after rockets were fired into Israel from that area.
Israel's war in Gaza has killed at least 52,908 Palestinians and wounded 119,721, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. The Government Media Office updated the death toll to more than 61,700, saying thousands of people missing under the rubble were presumed dead.
Some 1,139 people were killed in Israel during Hamas-led attacks on October 7, 2023, and more than 200 others were taken prisoner.
Meanwhile, Russia, China and the United Kingdom have rejected a US-Israeli plan to distribute aid to Gaza, urging Israel to lift its two-month blockade of Gaza.
US President Donald Trump, who is visiting Saudi Arabia, says he is working to end the conflict in Gaza as soon as possible, but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says "there will be no situation where we will stop the war."
