Hezbollah chief Naim Qassem congratulated Palestinians on the Gaza ceasefire agreement, saying in a speech that it demonstrated the "perseverance of the resistance" against Israel.
The statement was the first in public from the leader of the Iranian-backed Lebanese militant group since Israel and Hamas reached the agreement on Wednesday, writes A2 CNN.
"This agreement, which was unchanged from what was proposed in May 2024, proves the persistence of the resistance groups, who got what they wanted, while Israel was unable to get what it wanted," he said, writes A2 CNN.
Israel and Hezbollah agreed to a ceasefire in a conflict parallel to the Gaza war in November.
This ceasefire, which was brokered by the United States and France, calls for Israeli forces to withdraw from southern Lebanon within 60 days and for Hezbollah to remove all its fighters and weapons from the south. (A2 Televizion)
