After almost three years of war, Ukraine and Russia say they are ready for peace. The Kremlin has changed its stance on negotiations and confirmed President Vladimir Putin's willingness to sit down with his counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky to discuss arms reductions.
"Readiness must be based on something, normally on desire and will. It cannot be based on a legislative ban by Zelensky on such negotiations. Therefore, at the moment, it is impossible to understand this otherwise than as empty words. He has big problems in terms of legitimacy, however, the Russian side remains open to negotiations," said Dmitry Peskov, a Kremlin spokesman.
The Kremlin spokesman, after being asked about contacts with the US administration of President Donald Trump on Ukraine, confirmed that they are at the ministerial level and have recently increased. The Kiev leader expressed his readiness for talks to end the war, despite having harsh words for the Russian leader.
"To be fair, Putin is a murderer and a terrorist. This is a fact. If our allies believe that we should move to the diplomatic field, then we are also ready to move to that diplomatic field. But at the table should be the United States of America, Europe, Ukraine and Russia. Isn't this a compromise in itself? We will talk to Putin. A conversation with him is a compromise for him," Zelensky said.
Zelensky admitted that in this almost 3-year war, Ukraine has lost 45 thousand soldiers. Meanwhile, the drone battle has not stopped. An explosion was reported at an oil refinery in Krasnodar, Russia, while Kiev confirmed the shooting down of 57 drones launched by Putin's army. (A2 Televizion)
