Kim Jong Un puts on a show and threatens the world. North Korea has conducted the first test of the weapons system of its new warship, the destroyer named Choe Hyon.
This was confirmed by the state news agency, KCNA. During the test, supervised by the dictator and other senior officials, cruise and anti-aircraft missiles were launched, in addition to artillery fire.
"The time has come for the North Korean Navy to accelerate the process of nuclear armament, to safeguard maritime sovereignty and national defense," Kim Jong Un said.
According to North Korean media reports and analysis of satellite imagery by American and South Korean researchers, the Choe Hyon is a destroyer and missile launcher weighing about 5,000 tons and measuring 140 meters long. It is the largest and most advanced warship ever built by communist Pyongyang and is equipped with modern launch systems.
North Korea possesses nuclear weapons that are regularly described as a necessary arsenal for defense against aggressive military exercises by Washington and Seoul.
This is reported by the KCNA media, explaining that the warship will enter service early next year. "It will make the North Korean navy an essential sector in national defense and an element of nuclear deterrence," Pyongyang emphasizes.
