Donald Trump defends his decision to pardon about 1,600 supporters convicted of the attack on Congress four years ago.
"Their lives have been destroyed," the US president said. Speaking at a press conference on his first full day in office, Trump announced that he is considering imposing a 10% tariff on imports of goods from China, writes A2 CNN.
"We're thinking about a 10% tariff on China based on the fact that they're sending fentanyl to Mexico and Canada. Maybe the measure will go into effect on February 1st," Trump said.
There was also a threat of imposing tariffs against the European Union.
"We have other countries that are abusing us, not just China. Of course China takes advantage of us, but the European Union treats us very badly. They don't take our cars. They don't take our farmers' products. We have a $350 billion deficit with the European Union. They treat us very badly. So they have to prepare for tariffs. It's the only way they're going to treat us fairly," Trump said.
Trump also officially closed the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion program. In the first hours of his presidency, he signed hundreds of executive orders and decrees, including declaring a state of emergency on the southern border with Mexico and vowing to launch a campaign to deport illegal immigrants who have committed crimes.
But, in the meantime, a total of 22 US states have initiated legal proceedings to challenge Trump's executive order, which aims to remove the right to obtain US citizenship at birth for foreigners who give birth to their children within US territory. The president also removed the recommendation that prevented the targeting of schools or churches in anti-immigration operations. (A2 Televizion)
