Mexican authorities have arrested Francisco Javier Roman Bardales, known by the nickname "El Veterano," one of the FBI's 10 most wanted men and a suspected member of the MS-13 gang. The news was confirmed by Mexico's Security Minister, Omar García Harfuch, writes A2 CNN.
According to the FBI, he was one of the top leaders of MS-13 and is accused of organizing the gang's criminal activities in the United States, Mexico and El Salvador. He is suspected of ordering dozens of acts of violence against civilians and rival gangs, as well as his involvement in drug trafficking and extortion schemes.
A federal arrest warrant was issued against him on September 22, 2022, charging him with terrorist support, conspiracy to commit narcoterrorism, conspiracy to commit extortion, and immigrant smuggling.
FBI Director Kash Patel, in a post on the X platform on March 18, stated that Bardales will be extradited to the United States to face American justice. This arrest is considered a major blow to MS-13 and its international criminal activity. (A2 Televizion)
