Under investigation for corruption, the FBI seizes the phone of the mayor of New

Federal Bureau of Investigation officials have seized electronic devices, including a phone, from New York City Mayor Eric Adams as part of a corruption investigation related to his campaign fundraising.

The news was also confirmed by the mayor's lawyer, Boyd Johnson, who said that Adams did not resist the FBI agents and was willing to help clarify this matter until the end.

"The FBI approached the mayor after an incident. The Mayor immediately complied with the FBI's request and turned over his electronic equipment. He has not been accused of any violation and continues to cooperate with the authorities for the investigation", said the lawyer.

The seizure of the New York first lady's devices comes days after federal agents searched the Brooklyn home of Adams' campaign fundraiser, Brianna Suggs. This prompted the cancellation of a planned trip by the mayor to Washington for meetings with White House officials in Washington.

Adams said nothing about the seizure of the phones during a conference call and said he was not aware of any legal violations by members of his campaign team.

According to VOA, the scope of the investigation has not been made public by prosecutors, but a search warrant obtained by the New York Times says authorities are investigating suspected collusion by the Adams campaign with the Turkish government to receive funds from foreign sources, through domestic persons or entities.
