Russia will not give up its goals in resolving the causes of the Ukrainian conflict. This fact was made clear by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a telephone conversation with United States President Donald Trump.
The talks in Istanbul will remain in the format of direct dialogue between Moscow and Kiev, without foreign mediators, Putin is quoted as saying according to the official Kremlin announcement, writes A2 CNN.
"Putin told Trump that Russia continues to seek a negotiated solution to the Ukrainian conflict. The Russian leader informed the US president that Moscow will not give up on eliminating all causes of the conflict," Yuri Ushakov, an aide to the Russian president, said in a statement detailing the conversation.
As Ushakov reported, "the specific content of a possible third round of negotiations has not been discussed," A2 CNN writes.
In today's telephone conversation between the presidents of the United States and Russia, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, the issue of suspending the supply of American weapons to Ukraine was not addressed.
According to him, the conversation between the two leaders lasted almost an hour and the US president again raised the issue of ending military operations in Ukraine as soon as possible.
"The topic of suspending US arms deliveries to Ukraine was not a topic of today's conversation between Putin and Trump," Ushakov said, A2 CNN writes.
Putin and Trump discussed in detail the situation regarding Iran and the Middle East as a whole, Ushakov said. The two presidents agreed to continue communication. "They have not discussed the possibility of a meeting, but the idea is on the table," Ushakov said.
The presidents discussed several promising joint economic projects in energy and space exploration, but did not consider a personal meeting. They also discussed the possibility of exchanging films promoting traditional values close to Russia and the US presidential administration. (A2 Televizion)
