US President Donald Trump met with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at the White House today.
According to foreign media, Trump told reporters what Russian President Vladimir Putin told him in their phone call yesterday regarding Moscow's response to Ukraine's attack on airports deep inside Russia.
"They went deep into Russia and he [Putin] actually told me that we have no choice but to attack based on this development and it's probably not going to be pretty," Trump said, according to A2 CNN.
"I don't like it, I said don't do it, you shouldn't do it, you should stop it," Trump added.
Trump went on to say that "there's a lot of hatred" between the two sides, but he remains optimistic about the possibility of a ceasefire agreement.
He refers to the ceasefire between India and Pakistan and says: "I would like us to do the same with Ukraine and Russia."
