Under the background of the Israel-Hamas war, the confrontation between the United States and Iran is intensifying.
The Pentagon announced that it had launched two airstrikes against Tehran and the groups it supports in Syria, in what is described as a response to a series of attacks by US counterforces in Syria and Iraq.
In a statement Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said the attacks had targeted a training complex near the town of AlbuKamal and a hideout near the town of Mayadeen. He said that US President Joe Biden had ordered the attacks.
"U.S. military forces launched high-precision strikes on facilities in eastern Syria used by Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps and other groups linked to Tehran in response to ongoing attacks on our personnel in Iraq and Syria. The president has no higher priority than the safety of American personnel."

This is the third attack since October 26, as the United States responds to a wave of drone and missile attacks against US troops in Syria and Iraq, fueled by the war between Israel and Hamas.
Tehran and its supporters claim that America is responsible for the war that Israel declared on Hamas, which is also supported by Iran. US and US troops have been attacked at least 40 times in Iraq and Syria by Iranian-backed forces in recent weeks.
At least 45 US troops suffered traumatic injuries or minor wounds. So, 5 US special forces were killed on Friday when their helicopter crashed in the Mediterranean during a training mission. (A2 Televizion)
