The office of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has now shared details of his first discussion with US Vice President JD Vance since they clashed in the Oval Office in February.
According to foreign media, during talks on the sidelines of the Pope's inauguration Mass, Zelenskyy informed Vance about the "unrealistic conditions" presented by Russia during the peace talks in Istanbul, his office said.
Yesterday, it was reported that among other demands, Russia stipulated that five Ukrainian regions be given international recognition as part of Russia under any agreement, writes A2 CNN.
This, and Moscow's low-level delegation, showed "Russia's lack of intent to end the war," the President's office said.
Zelenskyy also told Vance how "Russia violated the ceasefire it had proposed itself."
Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that all this shows Moscow's lack of intention to end the war and that is precisely why, according to him, pressure is needed to force Russia to agree to a complete and unconditional ceasefire.
The president also posted his account of the meeting on the social network 'X'. (A2 Televizion)
