Large protests were held in several Israeli cities after the government ordered the resumption of attacks on Gaza following the failure of negotiations with Hamas to continue the ceasefire, which in its agreement also provided for the release of dozens of hostages.
Thousands of people had gathered in Jerusalem to oppose the resumption of the war, which has claimed thousands of lives.
Protesters gathered in one of the city's main squares and then marched towards Prime Minister Netanyahu's residence.
"It's time to end this madness before there's no one left to save, before there's no place left," protest leader Shikma Bressler told the crowd.
The day before, Israel bombed Gaza again, killing at least 410 civilians. (A2 Televizion)
