NATO chief Mark Rutte has warned India, China and Brazil that they could be hit very hard by secondary sanctions if they continue to trade with Russia, urging them to call Vladimir Putin to demand an end to the war in Ukraine.
According to foreign media, he made these comments a day after Donald Trump threatened "severe" secondary tariffs of 100% on buyers of Russian exports if Moscow does not make peace in Ukraine within 50 days.
Speaking at a meeting with senators in the US Congress, Rutte said: “My encouragement to these three countries is... you might want to consider this because this could hit you very hard.”
"Please call Vladimir Putin and tell him that he needs to take the issue of peace talks seriously," he said, A2 CNN reports. (A2 Televizion)
