A serious incident has occurred near Livorno in Italy, where two armored vehicles transporting cash were attacked by an armed gang and millions of euros were robbed.
According to foreign media, the incident occurred on the Aurelia state road, heading south, after 6:00 PM on Friday.
It is also reported that two armored vehicles from the security company Battistolli were at the exit of the San Carlo tunnel, in the municipality of San Vincenzo. They left the headquarters of San Pietro in Palazzi, in Cecina, one loaded with money and the other empty to act as an escort. They were transporting 4.5 million euros used to pay pensions in the Grosseto area, where the armored vehicles were headed.
The road at the scene is narrowed by an open construction site and traffic is moving in one lane. This is the moment to take action. Two other vans - which will later be set on fire after the attack - block the two armored vehicles and at least six hooded bandits dressed in black and armed with Kalashnikovs, point their guns at the five security guards on duty. They force them out and leave, then they smash the armored van loaded with cash and flee in three cars that followed.
These are moments of absolute terror, scenes like something out of a movie. Motorists and passersby, as well as some residents who came out onto the streets when they heard the explosion, watched the event with disbelief and fear.
"Speechless" is the mayor of San Vincenzo, Paolo Riccucci, who commented on Facebook in the evening: "Images that we still struggle to fit into the realm of reality. (A2 Televizion)
