The US, Chinese and Russian militaries have joined forces in a joint multinational naval exercise in Pakistan. The exercise is one of the few times the US and Russian militaries have worked together to enhance maritime security. Despite the sanctions, the US and Russian militaries have come together in Pakistan. Host country Pakistan began its multinational naval exercise 'AMAN' in Karachi, which involved the militaries of the United States, China, Iran, Russia, Japan and Australia.
Pakistan Navy officials said the biennial event, 'Exercise AMAN 2025', is designed to enhance maritime security and foster cooperation among participants to combat regional and global threats.
“We as a navy have a responsibility to ensure that the rules-based order is maintained and that we are able to grow globally in a way that benefits all people. The AMAN Dialogue is not just about leadership discussions, it is also about bringing our sailors together. The opportunity for our sailors from all over the world to come together and spend time with each other in Karachi, building empathy and understanding for each other is really a way to build consensus and understanding and ensure that we move forward in a positive way,” said Christopher Smith, Commander, Australian Fleet.
The flags of participating nations and territories were hoisted alongside the Pakistani flag at the official opening ceremony of the exercise at the Pakistan Navy Dockyard. The Commander of the Pakistan Navy, Rear Admiral Abdul Munib, stressed the importance of joint operations and maritime stability in his opening remarks. He also highlighted a component of the “Peace Dialogue”, which was “a platform for leaders of navies and coast guards around the world to discuss pressing maritime concerns”, he added. The five-day multinational naval exercise will conclude on Tuesday, February 11. (A2 Televizion)
