Pope Francis has had a quiet night and is resting, following the problems and critical condition he had on Saturday.
This is confirmed by the Vatican, which is constantly updating information about the Holy Father's health, writes A2 CNN.
The Pope was described as "sicker" than on Friday and has received a blood transfusion after suffering from a "prolonged asthma-like respiratory crisis".
The 88-year-old is being treated for pneumonia in both lungs at the Gemelli hospital in Rome. The blood transfusion was deemed necessary due to a low platelet count, which is associated with anemia, the Vatican said.
Cardinal Pietro Parolin has issued a statement to respond to some rumors that were spreading about a possible resignation of Pope Francis.
"Everything seems to me like useless speculation. Now we are thinking about the health of the Holy Father, his recovery, his return to the Vatican: these are the only things that matter," the cardinal underlined. (A2 Televizion)
