Al Jazeera cameraman killed in Gaza, his colleague narrates the incident

An Al Jazeera cameraman was killed on Friday in the southern Gaza Strip, a spokesman for the Arab broadcaster said. Cameraman Samer Abu Daqqa was killed while a colleague was wounded while covering the bombing of a school, Al Jazeera said in a statement.

Rescue teams were unable to reach Abu Daqqa to take the journalist for medical treatment.

Al Jazeera's Wael Dahdouh has recounted the Israeli attack that wounded him and killed colleague Samer Abudaqa on Friday.

Speaking from his hospital bed at Gaza's Nasser Hospital, Dahdouh said an ambulance crew had refused to return for his wounded colleague because of their fear of being targeted by Israeli forces.

"We got in the ambulance, I asked them to go back to where I was because Samer was still there and he was screaming and calling for help," said Dahdouh. "He was wounded in the lower part of the body, but the doctors told me that we should leave immediately and that they will send another ambulance so that we are not all targeted."

Dahdouh gave his interview before hearing the news that Abudaqa had been killed in the attack.

A Palestinian journalist has shared footage of the aftermath of Israeli attacks that destroyed homes in al-Manara neighborhood in Khan Younis, south of Gaza. It is reported that dozens have been killed and injured.

According to the Palestinian Journalists Union, 90 journalists have been killed by Israeli airstrikes in Gaza since October 7, 59 of whom are Palestinians. (A2 Televizion)
