Three people have lost their lives in Tivoli after the city's hospital was engulfed in flames. The media in Italy report that two people died from intoxication and a third as a result of a heart attack.
After the flames were extinguished, the hospital was filled with smoke and evacuated. About 200 patients have already been transferred.
Dozens of evacuated patients were transferred to the nearby municipal gym, set up by the local Civil Defense with blankets, pillows and beds, Tivoli Mayor Giuseppe Proietti wrote on social media.
The fire in the Tivoli hospital, according to the media, started from several rooms located on the -2nd floor of the hospital and from there the flames reached the emergency room and resuscitation.
The other wards were not affected, but very thick smoke filled the entire hospital and it was deemed necessary to evacuate the entire structure.
In addition to the three victims who lost their lives in the fire, the body of a person who died before the fire was found.
Meanwhile, the Tivoi prosecutor's office has opened an investigative file on the case. An autopsy has been ordered on the bodies of the victims to clarify the causes of death. (A2 Televizion)
