Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he opposes the agreement with Washington on rare earths.
"The agreement," the Kiev leader said, as reported by RBC Ukraine, "was ready at the ministerial level. But I am the president and I will have an influence on the quality of this document. And that is why I did not let the ministers sign the agreement, because it is not ready, in my opinion. It is not yet ready to protect our interests," he said.
Donald Trump said a few days ago that he wants to negotiate a "deal" with Ukraine, so that Kiev offers a "guarantee" for its rare earths, minerals widely used in electronics, in exchange for US aid.
"We're trying to find a deal with Ukraine where they can offer as collateral their rare earths and other things in exchange for what we give them," the US president told reporters in the Oval Office, stressing that Ukraine is willing to do so. (A2 Televizion)
