Italy and Kosovo recognize each other's patents

From January 29 of this year, Kosovo and Italian citizens will have their driver's licenses recognized in both countries.

This was announced by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kosovo, announcing that the agreement reached between the two states has entered into force.

According to the announcement, this agreement enables citizens "to convert documents without having to undergo additional procedures, neither in the theoretical nor the practical part."

"The implementation of this agreement is an important step towards the integration of Kosovo citizens living in the Republic of Italy," the Ministry of Interior said in a statement.

Most recently, in December 2024, the Minister of Internal Affairs announced that they had signed an agreement with Croatia for the mutual recognition of driver's licenses.

Meanwhile, in 2022, the Ministry announced that after recognizing driver's licenses from Germany, they are in the process of reaching agreements with Canada, Turkey, and Austria.

Radio Free Europe has previously reported how the international non-recognition of Kosovo's personal documents has become a major concern for many Kosovo citizens living abroad. REL (A2 Televizion)
