Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani has called for strengthening Kosovo's defense capabilities and stated that hybrid attacks pose real challenges to national stability, writes A2 CNN. Osmani made these statements at a conference organized by the Ministry of Defense on the topic of national sustainability. The Supreme Commander of the Kosovo Security Force, Osmani stated that national sustainability is an obligation to future generations.
"National resilience is not just a theoretical concept, but is the foundation on which our security, development and future as a state are built... At a time when security threats are more complex than conventional and hybrid wars to cyber attacks, Kosovo must be ready for the challenges we face today and for those of the future. We need a security architecture that is innovative, flexible and prepared to face any scenario....04'16 Continued investment in armaments as well as in our military personnel and their well-being is vital, as is continued investment in other security institutions. In a world where hybrid threats are becoming increasingly sophisticated and economic resilience is equally important, protection from hybrid attacks is also indispensable. Our state must invest in improving critical infrastructure and a sustainable economy with an emphasis on energy security", she said.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti noted that national stability is not an option to be chosen, but a state and national necessity. He added that in recent years, steps have been taken to strengthen this aspect of security.
"In recent years, we have taken important steps to strengthen our national resilience, where our national resilience is one of the main elements of comprehensive protection, or total protection for which we have prepared by first drafting the draft concept and we approved it in the government in September of last year. This protection implies the preparation of the entire society to face situations of crises and emergencies and of course requires increasingly higher awareness and participation of citizens and continuous interaction between institutions and communities... In these times of challenges, our response must be a combination of determination and unity. This conference is a step towards building a future where all citizens feel protected and our country remains an example of both resilience and preparation", said Kurti.
Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci, stated that national sustainability is the capacity to maintain the vital functions of society and to ensure that the future is built on strong foundations. According to him, this conference has the key goal of strengthening cooperation, and sharing best practices that will improve and enrich national sustainability.
"In an increasingly complex world, resilience is no longer an option, but a necessity. Resilience is defined not only as the ability to cope with shocks and threats, but above all as a capacity to maintain the vital functions of society, to protect our values, and to ensure that the future is built on strong foundations," said Maqedonci.
