The Basic Court in Pristina decided to return to detention the five police officers suspected of the criminal offense of "negligent homicide" of 27-year-old Agon Zejnullahu.
The case was under retrial from July 21, at the request of their defense attorneys. The latest ruling of the Basic Court states that the suspects are ordered to be detained for one month, and that it will be calculated from the date of their detention, July 7, 2025, until August 6, 2025.
It also states that "after reviewing the prosecution's request for the imposition of pre-trial detention and after evaluating the objections and arguments of the defendants and their defense attorneys", there are "sufficient reasons to impose pre-trial detention on the defendants".
Zejnullahu died in the early hours of July 7, after being arrested by police in Lipjan. His death was confirmed at the scene by the medical team.
