"24 years later, we demand justice, while the same call for new crimes. Imagine how much hope the families of missing persons can have". Andin Hoti, the head of the Kosovo government commission for missing persons, said in Ditar, referring to the latest warning of President Vucic about conflicts in Kosovo and Republika Srpska.
He said that he has sent a letter to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and then to the representative for foreign policy in the EU, Josep Borrell, on the issue of missing persons, while in the following days he expects the establishment of the joint commission.
"I sent a letter to Vucic on June 1 to have access to classified or reclassified archives. We have missing persons in that area and have a guide as to what their fate will be. Unfortunately, they did not receive any response from Serbia and two months after that we also sent a letter to Borrell on the same issue. The declaration also envisages the creation of a joint commission. This joint commission has not been established yet, I don't know the reasons, but we have sent our comments. I suppose the EU's focus is elsewhere. As far as I have information from the delegation of Kosovo in the EU, our comments about the joint commission have been received and we expect that in the coming days and weeks the joint commission will be formed and there we will receive an answer".
As Prime Minister Albin Kurti has stated, Hoti also shares the same position as the head of the Serbian commission on this issue, Velko Dalovic, is not a reliable person to lead the commission or to be a negotiating party with the Kosovar one. He says that Dalovic was incriminated in the Serbian war in Kosovo.
"Dalovic was appointed directly by Milosevic in Kosovo's war for civil protection. It is the civilians in uniform who started the war in Kosovo. One of the accusations is this. We have information about the mistreatment of Albanians before the war and other evidence. We are in 2023 and we have 1,600 missing platforms. I am the fifth person that Kosovo has changed and Serbia has not changed, this shows that Dalovic never had the desire and the will to cooperate with the Kosovar side, otherwise we would not have 1600 missing persons and we would not have done 10 years of excavations in Serbia. "
But Hoti emphasizes that despite not meeting with the head of the Serbian commission, the working subgroups have not stopped the work for the missing, until July when Dalovic set conditions.
"We have not stopped the meetings of the working subgroups, which are the experts who perform professional work. Until July when Dalovic wrote a letter to us that there will be no experts in the meetings until you allow me to enter Kosovo."
While "the commission never stops its work and yesterday we were in Prekaz of Skenderaj and we had other findings, this is the 7th location with findings within this year", declared Hoti.
Regarding the law of missing persons that is expected to be approved soon in the assembly of Kosovo, he said that the changes in this existing law since 2011 were made at the request of family members.
"We have tried to take responsibility for the fact that this law does not cover the areas, to guide family members where they should."
