Former Integration Minister Edita Tahiri has accused Prime Minister Albin Kurti of the European Union's sanctions against Kosovo, as well as the Serbian attacks in Banjska and Ibër Lepence. In Ditari's studio with Bruna Çifligu, Tahiri called the Kosovar prime minister an anti-American and a coward. According to her, if there were ex-KLA fighters in Kosovo, Vucic would not carry out attacks.
"Kurti has anti-American ideology since he was a civil society activist. He has expressed anti-American attitudes. For us, America was the savior of the people of Kosovo. Kurt continues to be anti-American. Citizens saw what it means to have such a government. Without the Americans, Serbia attacked us twice; in Banjska and Ibër Lepenc. The EU punished us and does not remove the punishments. If we were with the Americans, Serbia would not have been able to carry out these attacks and neither would the EU sanctions. Who understands the weight of alliances with big countries, small countries cannot succeed if a big country is not an ally. We allied with America and brought freedom. Look at Palestine, for how many decades it has not resolved its issue because it has not had the direction of foreign policy strategy. The state must think about foreign policy, it is an ocean with many storms and it needs a captain who knows how to swim in ocean storms. Kurti is full of empty words, but in essence he is a coward, because if he were not a coward, Vucic would not be able to attack Kosovo so easily. If we had ex-KLA fighters in Kosovo, the Serbs would not be able to do this" , said Tahiri on A2 CNN.
Asked about the approach of the EU, Tahiri emphasized that the punishments against Kurti are deserved. She said that he has failed and has not coordinated with the US and the EU for the municipalities in the north.
"In relation to the punishments, Kurti was guilty, that's why he was punished. In the election process in the north, it was not coordinated, it gave promises to Euro-American partners and it did not keep and own the Serbian minority in the north. Vucic manipulated them and pulled them from Kosovo's institutions. For 7 years in Brussels, I have made maximum efforts to integrate the 4 municipalities and undo the parallel structures. Kurti left the north without sovereignty and punished Kosovo. The punishments are deserved due to Kurti's failure and non-coordination with the USA and the EU".
In the A2 CNN studio, Tahiri said that "Serbia intends to take over the north of Kosovo and every day it destabilizes Bosnia and Herzegovina that it will take over the Serbian republic, it is pushing the agenda of greater Serbia".
According to the former Kosovar minister, the time has come for the Serbian president to go like Assad in Syria.
"Vučić has stifled democracy in Serbia by all means, he has taken a strong hold with Russia and here he is. Even in Albania, Rama is firmly attached to Soros. We have the same with Vučić", said Tahiri on A2 CNN.
He hopes for the same in the February 9 elections in Kosovo.
"I wish that these elections will bring changes, and an essential change is to move from an anti-American government to a pro-American one, as we were before and after liberation. Kurti's victory was related to the disappointments that the citizens had experienced from the previous governments, now I think that the citizens had a chance without this government and political party, because they were not in the government earlier. I am waiting for the real votes that reflect an assessment of failed policies and those that have gone well".
