The outgoing ambassador of the United States in Kosovo, Jeff Hovenier, has published his last speech for public opinion, after the end of the diplomatic mission.
In his post on Platform X, the American diplomat announced that when he first arrived in Kosovo, he laid a wreath at the statue of President Ibrahim Rugova and highlighted his personal experience of seeing him advance peaceful resistance, human rights and equality.
"This December also marks the end of my service as US ambassador to Kosovo. I would like to thank the people of Kosovo for their friendship and hospitality. It has been an honor to serve in this role and to contribute to the joint effort between the USA and Kosovo to advance and consolidate a sovereign, democratic, multi-ethnic and prosperous Kosovo", writes Hovenier, A2 reports.
Hovenier thanked the people of Kosovo for their friendship and hospitality, adding that it was an honor for him to have served in the role of American diplomatic representative. In the end, the American ambassador said that he can't wait to see what the people of Kosovo will achieve in 2025 and beyond: "I leave this task knowing that the future of Kosovo is bright and I can't wait to see what you, the people of Kosovo, will reach 2025 and beyond".
Earlier, the American ambassador, Jeff Hovenier, was present at the farewell ceremony together with the President of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, where he placed wreaths near the statue of the former president of Kosovo, Ibrahim Rugova: "I want to thank the people of Kosovo. It has been my dream job to serve as the US Ambassador here for these three years and to have this opportunity to work together with the people of Kosovo to help advance the country. The United States is committed to our partnership. We want to see Kosovo succeed and progress".
Hovenier has served as the US ambassador to Kosovo for the past three years. Meanwhile, President Vjosa Osmani said that Hovenieri's commitment to the freedom and independence of Kosovo has been unstoppable. Osmani emphasized that the friendship with the USA made the state of Kosovo move forward in the full protection of territorial integrity. (A2 Televizion)
