Prime Minister Albin Kurti's statements towards prosecutors are considered unacceptable as they may contribute to the further decline in trust in this system.
At his rallies, Prime Minister Kurti, who is aiming for another term at the head of the Kosovo Government, warned prosecutors not to come to work at all on February 10, as they will be dismissed.
Lawyer Ardian Bajraktari told A2 CNN: "Such attacks, such labeling of justice institutions in general and the prosecution in particular, have been something that has consistently characterized this government, with particular emphasis on the prime minister, and therefore they are unacceptable."
Even the possibility of dismissal is not within the competence of the prime minister, so Kurti's statements are seen as an attempt to gain votes.
Lawyer Xhevdet Smakiqi stressed: "With the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo, there is no possibility for any prime minister, regardless of his percentage, to interfere in the dismissal or appointment of judges or prosecutors. The powers are known, they are divided as pillars of power, but he does this only to manipulate and gain votes."
Prime Minister Albin Kurti has announced that they will establish a new prosecutor's office specialized in organized crime and corruption issues, similar to SPAK in Albania, which is seen as unnecessary.
"If we compare it to the SPAK of Albania, we only have the Special Prosecution Office, which has prosecuted, investigated, accused and convicted former ministers such as Pal Lekaj in the first instance, even though he is considered innocent until a decision is made in the second instance, but it is propaganda, it is a lie," Smakiqi declares.
"It is not based anywhere, not even in strategic documents, including the rule of law strategy that this government has approved, except that it is not based on my belief and is unnecessary due to the fact that the Special Prosecution Office has a special department that deals with the investigation of criminal offenses of corruption and abuse of official duty," Bajraktari adds.
Kurti has also emphasized that in case of victory, he will establish a new court, such as the one for family matters. (A2 Televizion)
