The Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, has spoken about the recent criticism of the US Embassy in Kosovo and other Western countries towards Kosovo institutions that are closing several parallel social centers in the North.
Haxhiu said that such actions and decisions of Kosovo institutions are not against partners or against the citizens of Kosovo.
"The actions or decisions of the security institutions are not against our partners or against the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo. On the contrary, these centers have been closed by the Kosovo Police because it is suspected that through them there was interference or pressure was exerted on the February 9 elections, conditioning the vote of citizens of the Serbian community," the minister said.
"The head of the EU election observation mission in Kosovo herself has stated that Serbia has interfered in the electoral process. These centers are suspected of being the instrument of interference, which is why there has been a legal and appropriate institutional response. We have a responsibility to the law. We have a responsibility to the Constitution of Kosovo and to the citizens to ensure the integrity of the electoral process and to make sure that everyone's vote is free and the electoral competition is fair," Haxhiu emphasized.
