The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, in the joint conference with his Croatian counterpart, Andrej Plenkovic, has stated that the last terrorist attack in the Ibër-Lepenci channel was carried out by terrorist professionals and is new in nature, as it has already been targeted civilian population.
The head of government said that there are people who are being held in prison and are being investigated, while he has shown that a lot of weapons and ammunition have been confiscated, as well as uniforms and emblems, including those of various Russian units, writes A2.
"This latest attack by terrorist professionals in the Ibër-Lepencit canal is new in nature, in the sense that the civilian population is now being targeted. Earlier, we had attacks on the Kosovo Police, on official municipal buildings, but this time the target is the civilian population because the water supply and energy production, which is vital for both citizens and businesses, has been targeted. Several people have been arrested. Some are being held in prison even as we speak. Investigations are ongoing, we have confiscated a lot of weapons and ammunition, but also uniforms and emblems, 20 of which belong to different Russian units. We have to wait for the conclusion of these investigations, but we consider that everything shows that this was not done by ordinary citizens and that they lead us to believe that such an attack is supported, orchestrated by Serbia, as was the attack in Banjska or the one with the attack on KFOR, or even the kidnapping of our three policemen in Leposaviq", Kurti emphasized.
He said that the border between Kosovo and Serbia is longer than the one with the other three countries that surround our country and that there are difficulties in controlling it precisely. According to the prime minister, the nervousness in Belgrade is being translated into aggressiveness towards Kosovo, since when they no longer control Kosovo then they support such terrorist attacks. The head of government has said that they want normalization of relations with Serbia, mutual recognition.
"We have the agreement in Brussels from February 27 of last year and the implementation annex from March 18 in Ohrid, we must respect and implement it. Kosovo is constructive, dedicated and always creative in finding solutions as two independent states aiming for European neighborhood. So, we have agreements and negotiations for the implementation of that agreement, but every week Belgrade undertakes side violations of this and does not adhere to that agreement. We think we have more than dialogue because we have agreements. We insist that Brussels exert pressure on Belgrade so that they respect the agreement and implement it as soon as possible and in that way achieve the normalization of relations as two normal states. Kosovo is a normal country, we have remarkable economic growth of 6 percent of the gross domestic product in the last 4 years. We have democratic progress, so our normal relations should also include a normal Serbia, and here Brussels can help much more than what they did currently", underlined Prime Minister Kurti.
Kurti added that Serbia is not a democratic state: "Serbia is not a democratic state, human rights and minority rights are not respected there. They don't believe in political pluralism, there is no rule of law, and that's why there are such fierce student protests. I have the impression that Serbia is only formally a republic, while it is impossible to become a kingdom even in the substantive sense. Now in this gap they have returned to what we have always known, a paramilitary state. In our country, Milan Radoicić is accused of taking terrorist actions, while in Belgrade they beat the students. We know from historical experience how this ends. Belgrade seems not to have learned any kind of lesson from its past", said the Prime Minister.
Croatian Prime Minister Plenkovic has also mentioned the attacks by Serbian groups in the north of Kosovo since last year. He said that a quick result cannot be expected, but that it is important that the process be peaceful and that there are more talks between the two sides.
"We believe in the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia that results in normalization and ends with mutual recognition and functioning that leads to the position that Kosovo undertakes the journey towards the EU. There are five EU states that have not recognized Kosovo, and this process may not be fast," Plenkovic said. (A2 Televizion)
