Former Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi did not attend the court session in The Hague, due to health problems and the need for medical consultations. The news was announced at the beginning of the session by his lawyer, Luka Misetic, who said that Thaçi was not feeling well, but that he had no other information as he had not communicated with him.
"I don't have any information either. The session secretary informed me that the client was not feeling well and could not attend today's session," he said, writes A2.
Later, the presiding judge of the Special Court, Charles Smith, confirmed that Thaçi has a health problem and had to consult a doctor.
"The only communication that he has not been well was due to his health and he needed to see a doctor," he said.
After a few minutes of interruption of the session, the trial continued after Hashim Thaçi's lawyer, Luka Misetic, said that Thaçi himself had signed the permission for the session to continue.
"The doctor has signed the permission to continue with the judicial process. I was not able to contact Mr. Thaçi during this short break, but the appropriate permission has been given to continue with today's session," Misetić stressed.
The hearing where the next prosecution witness is testifying against the former KLA leaders is continuing to be held in private by order of the trial panel. The trial against Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi began in April 2023, while they have been in the detention center since November 2020. They are charged with alleged war crimes. The former KLA leaders have pleaded not guilty to all counts of the indictment. (A2 Televizion)
