The Secretary General of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Vlora Çitaku, accused the Vetëvendosje Movement of turning the Parliament into a circus with the sessions for the constitution of this institution being held every 48 hours.
In an interview for Ditar i Kosova on A2 CNN, Çitaku stated that the Assembly is an honor and a responsibility in which the most important decisions were made until the declaration of Kosovo's independence.
"To be honest, it is not only shameful but also painful to see where the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo has degraded and painful to witness every 48 hours an attempt by a political group to turn the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo into a circus," said Çitaku.
The former Kosovo ambassador to the United States said that voting is not done by dictate and that it has never happened in the history of the Republic of Kosovo that a party violently tries to impose a candidate.
"No one is contesting the right of the Vetëvendosje Movement to propose a candidate for speaker of the parliament, but it is the obligation of the first political group to build the necessary consensus to pass their candidacy," she continued on A2 CNN.
Çitaku said that the problem is not the lack of numbers but the lack of political will on the part of the acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, denying that the parties that were in opposition until yesterday are playing into the hands of Vetëvendosje by postponing the constitution of the Assembly.
"Mr. Kurti is afraid that through dialogue and agreements, the stature he is trying to maintain for himself is being violated, like a man who plays who does not make agreements, not in politics, in democracy, you have to make agreements," said Çitaku.
Çitaku also denied that the opposition to Albulena Haxhiu's candidacy is because she is a woman, saying that PDK has supported many women in important state positions.
"Ms. Haxhiu has a very polarizing and very divisive political legacy, her entire political career, her entire political profile is built on harsh accusations against anyone who does not think like the supreme leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, and in this case it is unacceptable for us. If they have another candidate, we, as a serious political party, will sit down and consider it," she said, refusing to mention names that would be suitable for the PDK.
Çitaku stated that party leader Memli Krasniqi, along with candidate for prime minister Bedri Hamza, have had meetings with leaders of other parties and said that there is political will for a government with parties that were in opposition in the previous mandate.
While he said that "they have neither accepted nor sent an invitation" to the Vetëvendosje Movement not only because of Kurti's language but also because of the way "we conceive of governance, the way alliances are built and how they experience Kosovo . "
PDK has expressed its readiness for extraordinary elections, but that it requires a political agreement in advance. (A2 Televizion)
