Prime Minister Albin Kurti's Vetëvendosje Movement has sent an invitation to the Democratic Party of Kosovo and the Democratic League of Kosovo to hold a joint meeting, with the aim of constituting the Assembly.
The invitation states that the presidency of the Assembly must be elected, first the speakers and then the vice-speakers, three of whom, according to VV, will be from the parties that received the most votes in the elections.
This invitation from VV was also confirmed by the chairwoman of the LDK Parliamentary Group, Hykmete Bajrami, who stated to A2CNN that "yes, the chairwoman of the Democratic League of Kosovo Lumir Abdixhiku has received a letter from the chairwoman of the Vetëvendosje Movement/MP Albin Kurti."
But she says that neither President Abdixhiku nor anyone from LDK will participate in the meeting planned by Kurti.
"However, neither Mayor Abdixhiku nor anyone from the Democratic League of Kosovo will participate in this meeting."
The position of Deputy Speaker of the Assembly belonging to the Democratic League of Kosovo is based on the election results, and is not subject to discussion with any other party. Furthermore, the Deputy Speakers are voted in packages by the Assembly, according to the practice so far.
"While the election of the Speaker of the Assembly is a matter of political agreement between parties that aim to create a majority, the Democratic League of Kosovo has already made it clear that it is not interested in such an agreement," Bajrami stressed. (A2 Televizion)
