The Central Election Commission failed to hold the meeting announced for Thursday in the absence of a quorum. Three of the absences were announced in advance, while the others were not announced.
Out of 11 members, only 3 were present, while the quorum requires the participation of seven members, writes A2.
Kreshnik Radoniqi, chairman of the CEC, said: "20 minutes have already passed since the meeting was scheduled and we can conclude that there is no quorum for holding this meeting, therefore this meeting is postponed".
For the Vetëvendosje Movement, whose two members were present, the absence was to make it impossible to extend the deadline for registering voters outside Kosovo. Vetëvendosje had requested that the deadline be postponed for three days, until Sunday, and it was also included in the agenda for voting by the CEC secretariat.
Alban Krasniqi, member of the CEC from LVV, emphasized: "The lack of colleagues here, both from PDK, from LDK and from the Alliance, is related to this issue, so they have shown their opposition to any postponement of the deadlines or also actions that the CEC should undertake in relation to the greatest possible inclusion of the diaspora in public life and in the electoral process".
The members of the LVV requested that another solution be made for the postponement of the deadline for registration of the migrant for voting as there has been an increase in interest in the last few days.
"83,446 diaspora voters have been approved as voters abroad. 8,979 requests are pending, so the approximate number is around 92,000 citizens so far who are considered voters abroad, and this trend is increasing," added Krasniqi.
The application period for the registration of voters outside Kosovo to vote in the February 9 elections started on August 29 and ends at midnight.
In 2021, 102,000 foreign voters were registered, but a high percentage of votes were declared invalid. (A2 Televizion)
