Electoral campaigns for the February 9 elections in Kosovo have officially started today. With the new election law, the campaign will be open until the opening of the voting centers, at 7 o'clock on Sunday, February 9, when the election silence begins. The Vetëvendosje movement will start the campaign from Gjakova, while PDK, LDK and AAK will hold their opening rallies in Pristina. Other smaller parties and coalitions have also announced their first meetings on Saturday.
Despite the fact that the campaign officially begins today, all parties have held rallies in all cities in Kosovo and abroad to mobilize the electorate since the election date was set in the summer of last year. In the February 9 elections, 28 political entities with about 1300 candidates compete for 120 seats in the Assembly of Kosovo. More than 2 million citizens have the right to vote in these elections, with about 105 thousand registered from the diaspora.
Unlike Albania, Kosovo is a single electoral district with open lists. Voters, after deciding on the subject they want to vote for, also choose their ten favorite candidates from the list.
