The Democratic Party has expressed concern that there is a tendency to manipulate the vote of the diaspora who have chosen to vote by mail.

PDK members in the Central Election Commission said that they have evidence that citizens have been invited to be helped on how to vote, therefore they have asked the Special Prosecutor's Office to investigate the cases, writes A2.

Ilir Gashi, member of the PDK in the CEC, stated: "Improvisation of polling stations is not allowed in cafes, offices of political parties, or offices of NGOs where citizens who are registered to vote by mail go to these certain addresses because to be helped to vote. The vote is sacred, it is personal".

The people who call the citizens said that they are authorized by the political parties, while the concern was raised that the citizens might think that they are the premises of the CEC. The Democratic League said that the CEC has given clear instructions on how to vote by mail, therefore it called the influence of others unreasonable.

Sami Hamiti, a member of the LDK in the CEC, emphasized: "30 thousand applicants have been sent to Germany, who are told exactly what they need to do, which is the first step, which is the second step, they have no need [to be given help] on the streets or in cafes, because how they (the diaspora) should act is the institution that sent them [the voting instructions]."

The members of Vetëvendosje Movement said that there is nothing wrong in PDK's claims. According to them, everyone should be helped if they need it, it is enough to cast the vote personally and without being influenced.

Sami Kurteshi, a member of the LVV at the CEC, said: "There has been no case, outside or inside, where the Vetevendosje Movement has been tried for vote manipulation. We have several other parties, with industrial theft, with the disruption of elections, with the cancellation of elections, but not for Vetevendosje".

From January 9, about 85 thousand voters in the diaspora have the right to vote by mail, while over 22 thousand others will vote physically in the premises of Kosovo's consulates or embassies in different countries.  (A2 Televizion)
