The Assembly of Kosovo and that of Albania will hold a joint meeting on Friday, December 20 in Pristina. In the session that will start at 11:00 in the hall of the Parliament of Kosovo, the addresses of Prime Ministers Albin Kurti and Edi Rama are also planned.
The session will start with the speech of the presidents of the two Assemblies, Glauk Konjufca and Elisa Spiropali. While the heads of the parliamentary groups will also have their addresses. 60 MPs will participate from Albania, while the number of Kosovar MPs has not yet been determined.
From the first meeting in November 2022 to the second one in December 2024, there has been an intensification of cooperation between the parliamentary committees for the Vetëvendosje Movement.
"There has been a dynamic like never before in the work of the joint commissions of the assemblies of the two countries, there has also been a dynamic of the projects, while I believe that the next mandate of the two new governments in Kosovo and the Republic of Albania, namely the legislature the ninth in Kosovo and the new one in Albania will be directly related to major infrastructure projects", said Mimoza Kusari - Lila, head of the LVV group.
Mentioning the Pristina-Durres railway project as the biggest one with which both countries will engage, Kosovo aims to intensify cooperation and learn from the process of Albania's membership in the European Union.
"The joint commitments in which Albania is much more advanced now with the status of the candidate country in the European Union. They have only started with the evaluation in commissions of the legislative agenda and the evaluation in relation to the European agenda, I believe that in that spirit we can intensify the cooperation, but it is a good opportunity to conclude this mandate to reflect on the priorities of the next mandate in both assemblies", said Lila.
Friday's joint session is expected to be the last for the eighth legislature of the Assembly of Kosovo, as the deputies go on winter break and then the new parliamentary elections. (A2 Televizion)
