Prime Minister Albin Kurti has offered the Special Prosecutor's Office two hours for this week in which prosecutors can go to his office to receive testimony for the case known as state reserves.

This was confirmed on Monday by the Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, who said that Kurti is not avoiding the invitation of the Special Prosecutor's Office.

"Already, during this week, there are two dates left that the Prime Minister's cabinet has proposed to the Special Prosecutor's Office. I consider that there is no reason why the prosecutors, who are said to be interested in getting Prime Minister Kurti's testimony about state reserves, there is no reason why they should refuse to respond to the Prime Minister's request to interview him in the office, as requested Prime Minister Kurti", declared the minister.

Haxhiu added that there is nothing illegal in Prime Minister Kurti's request and even in the past high officials were interviewed in the Government building: "They know very well how they received them, and how the prosecutors came out of the offices of the levels of high. Don't force me to give more information than that, we have provided the information for this from the Special Prosecutor's Office itself, from officials working in the Special Prosecutor's Office".

Lawyer Musa Damati, who represented ex-minister Pal Lekaj in the case known as the "53 millionaire", told A2 that in this case a former prime minister and a former minister were interviewed in their offices in the early stages of the procedure: "There is a precedent in the Republic of Kosovo of hearing high-profile witnesses, who, due to their agenda, work protocol, can be interviewed outside the offices of the Prosecutor's Office Special".

Lawyer Damati describes the whole debate about Kurti's testimony as a spectacle: "I think this whole debate about interviewing the current prime minister consists of a spectacle rather than a procedural action which could be carried out without much noise and in coordination of agendas between the two institutions".

The Special Prosecutor's Office launched investigations into the state reserves after the publication in the media of several interceptions where it was claimed that Kosovo had not accepted the amount of oil and wheat paid for. The government has continuously denied that it has anything to do with elements of corruption.  (A2 Televizion)
