On Friday, four Social Work Centers operating under the Serbian system were closed in the four northern municipalities with a Serb majority in Kosovo.
Finally, these centers were used to pressure Serbian citizens to vote for the Serbian List, otherwise all aid provided by the Serbian state through these centers would be stopped.
Veton Elshani, deputy director of the police in the north, told A2: "The Social Work Center operates outside the laws of the Republic of Kosovo, we have a double charge for falsifying documentation, also knowing that that center operates in that form, we suspect that three other social work centers in Mitrovica North, Zveçan and Leposaviq do the same thing."
The investigations into these centers came only after a citizen denounced and the arrest of four women who worked there for blackmailing voters. The influence of these institutions in determining the vote makes Serbia guilty of interference in Kosovo's parliamentary elections.
Skënder Sadiku, deputy speaker of the North Mitrovica Assembly, said: "The damage that was done in the last elections is irreparable, not only these, it was fate that the case was reported to the police and the police investigated, but unfortunately the image of these elections has been ruined because pressure was put on the Serbian community through these institutions."
Even from a security perspective, closing these parallel institutions is considered the right action.
Arben Dashevci, a security expert, states: "These were determined for something else entirely, even though they were illegal and acted for another state, while we are an independent and sovereign state, on the other hand they prevented the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo from determining themselves in the elections."
The Serbian List reacted by accusing Prime Minister Albin Kurti of “attacking Serbs” in his last days in power. This entity met with workers working in these centers, assuring them that monthly payments would continue.
"Those people are paid only to maintain that political establishment, to maintain that propaganda in that state, always against the Republic of Kosovo, with its hybrid war, its special war, with disinformation and various sabotages," says Dashevci.
Despite the fact that 6 Serbian political entities participated in the election race, the result remained unchanged. Even one mandate won by the party of the current minister Nenad Rašić is very likely to pass to the Serbian List, which could once again have all ten seats reserved for Serbs in the Kosovo Assembly.
Skënder Sadiku, Deputy Speaker of the North Mitrovica Assembly, said: "I hope that the local elections will be different, that all citizens will be able to breathe more freely and democratically, especially the citizens of the North Mitrovica municipality who definitely deserve a better future."
There were no arrests in connection with the closure of Social Work Centers in the north, but 3 employees were interviewed. (A2 Televizion)
